While on ARCA break, Gus Dean stays in racing saddle

MOORESVILLE, N.C.

In the midst of nearly a seven-week sabbatical from ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards racing, driver Gus Dean (@gusdean) is staying busy.

Whether it’s working through media obligations for his marketing partner GREE, helping with the family-owned company Dean Custom Air or even racing his Super Late Model, the Bluffton, S.C. native is staying busy.

With some ARCA Racing Series testing on the horizon later this month and on the heels of a top-five performance in the final race in the 51st annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway two weeks ago, Dean is heading back to his roots of local short track racing.

Aboard his No. 56 GREE / Baker Dist. / CAB Installers Chevrolet, the 22-year-old will compete in Saturday afternoon’s Circle Track Warehouse 200 CARS Tour Super Late Model season-opener at Concord (N.C.) Speedway.

The effort will be spearheaded by industry veteran and Dean Racing leader Petey Hinson.

“I can’t wait to have a lot of fun this weekend at Concord,” said Dean. “We really built some momentum towards the end of World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna a couple weeks ago and I’m ready to keep that going on Saturday. I’m anxious to get back in an ARCA car too, but this is a good diversion until the schedule starts picking up.”

With plenty of experience and modest success at Concord, Dean says he is looking forward to the opportunity to put his No. 56 GREE / Baker Dist. / CAB Installers Chevrolet up front and in contention for the 200-lap race Saturday afternoon.

“Concord is a relatively small track, but it’s very much a finesse track,” added Dean. “Qualifying is pretty crucial to success there. Petey (Hinson, crew chief) has some good notes that we should help us put our GREE car near the front in qualifying. From there, it’s taking care of our stuff and being around for the end to contend for a good finish.”

During the off-season, the CARS Tour announced several rule changes to the tour, including the introduction to knockout qualifying. Additionally, the sanctioning body will introduce two live pit stops for position to remove items placed by officials on each side of the car.

“For us, there’s been a lot to digest when it comes to the CARS Tour,” added Dean. “I like the knockout qualifying deal. Should be a lot of fun. The whole live pit stop will make for interesting strategy and execution. I’m interested to see how it all pans out. Hopefully for us, it’s on the good side.”

When it comes to a good finish – Dean would be satisfied with a top-five, but he’s looking for his first career win in CARS Tour competition.

“I have a win under the old CARS Pro Cup banner, but not under their newest CARS Tour format, so I really want that checkered flag,” added Dean. “Between GREE, Baker Dist., CAB Installers and Dean Custom Air – there’s plenty of reasons to run good. No doubt a good performance on Saturday will help me from a morale boost until we get in the car at Nashville next month.”

Keeping Dean in the saddle between Late Model racing, testing and simulators has kept the ARCA winner busy, but more importantly focused on bouncing back from a disappointing Daytona.

After qualifying mid-pack, Dean raced his way inside the top-10 in the Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 driven by General Tire only to have his charge stalled after being hit by another competitor just past the halfway point.

Dean says while it’s been tough to swallow the finish at Daytona, it’s behind him and his Win-Tron Racing team are surging ahead with focus and attention on the future.

“Our ARCA season is just getting started and we’ve already taken our mulligan,” mentioned Dean. “That’s OK though. The guys at the shop are working hard. We have a brand new short track car done, another car almost done and another car behind that.

“It’s very busy at the shop. The guys are really focused. It’s neat to walk in there and see all the motivation. They believe in me. They believe in themselves and they believe in the dream we’re after.

“That’s all that matters.”

Gus Dean Hopes to Continue Superspeedway Excellence at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.

Surrounded by a new team and the support of his new full-time marketing partner GREE, Gus Dean (@GusDean) returns to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway this weekend with momentum and goals.

Dean, the new driver of the No. 32 GREE Cooling Products Toyota Camry for Win-Tron Racing is aiming for his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory and second consecutive on a superspeedway in Saturday afternoon’s Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 driven by General Tire.

And even though Dean isn’t with the same team he scored a popular win at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway last April, the Bluffton, S.C. native knows he has just as good of an opportunity to win again with Win-Tron Racing.

“I’m ready, I’ve been ready,”

said Dean.

“I’m excited to get the year going with Win-Tron Racing and GREE. We’ve really been working hard since we announced our partnership in December. Building cars and building relationships. I’m excited.”

Dean returns to the “World Center of Racing” where he made his ARCA debut last February. Although his first career start was short lived after being swept into a multi-car accident on Lap 2, Dean still appreciates the opportunity to step on the grounds of Daytona again and hopes for a better outcome on Feb. 18.

“I was incredibly thankful for the opportunity last February,” added Dean. “We had a super-fast car, but just got caught in something completely out of our control. That’s the past though. It’s a new year with a new look and new memories. I’m really feeling good about where I’m at.”

Of course, Dean knows he wouldn’t have the opportunity to return to Daytona, not only to race but start his ARCA championship battle, if not for his marketing partner GREE.

In 1991, GREE set out to make the world a cooler place. To this end, they’ve become a global leader in air conditioners, developing some of the most advanced commercial and residential air conditioners in the world.

Based in Zhuhai, China, GREE is now the world’s largest specialized air conditioner company integrating R&D, manufacturing, sales and service. It’s our mission to innovate and create new ways to help people live well and stay comfortable no matter where they live, work or play.

GREE will be joined by its master distributor for the US market, Tradewinds Climate Systems, as well as a number of their regional wholesalers, salespeople, and most importantly, fellow race fans. The company, which ranked 385th in Forbes’ Global 2000 possesses 18,000 active patents for products sold in 160 countries.

“We’re all very excited about the season ahead,”

said Dave Pearson, president of Tradewinds.

“We’re proud to have taken this relationship with Gus from a couple of races last year to a chance to run for the ARCA championship this season. The car looks great and we know it has a lot of speed and we’re hoping for a great finish to start off the new year with Win-Tron Racing.”

Dean added, “My relationship with GREE and their associates has been phenomenal, they are such awesome people. Mr. Dave (Pearson, president of Tradewinds Climate Systems) is a huge believer in me, our team and our goals. I know we’re going to have a lot of support on Saturday and I just hope we’re able to give everyone a finish they can be proud of.”

To kick off the new season, Win-Tron Racing owner Kevin Cywinski and crew chief Todd Myers will debut a brand new superspeedway car built especially for Dean. The car hit the track during preseason testing at the 2.5-mile stadium last month with strong results.

“The car was strong during the test, whether we were by ourselves or in the draft,” recalled Dean who posted an overall time in the top-10 in a two-day session that featured 52 cars turning a lap. “We tried a lot of things and Todd was pretty happy with the results. Of course, you always want to come back to the track and be better than you were before, so I can’t wait to hit the track on Thursday and see what we have to work with for the race. I’m feeling pretty confident.”

With Win-Tron Racing fielding a two-car team at Daytona with newcomer Justin Fontaine, Cywinski is hopeful for a strong effort.

“We’re excited to have Gus for the year,” said Cywinski. “He reminds me a lot of myself as a driver with the drive, passion and attitude to do nothing but breathe and sleep racing. He’s spent a lot of time in the shop during the offseason and we’re looking forward to many great accomplishments in 2017.”

Like Talladega, veteran Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series spotter Tyler Green will guide Dean for qualifying and the race. Green, son of former NASCAR driver Mark Green currently spots for former Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray on Sundays.

While gunning for the ARCA Racing Series driver’s championship this season, Dean has also registered to be a SCOTT Rookie of the Year candidate aboard the No. 32 GREE Toyota Camry.

In seven ARCA Racing Series starts, 22-year-old Dean captured his first career victory in his second career start at Talladega Superspeedway after starting second in Apr. 2016. Overall, Dean has one top-five and three top-10 finishes and has led 21 laps in ARCA competition.

The Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 driven by General Tire (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 20 races on the 2017 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. Practice begins Thurs., Feb. 16 with a two-hour session from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A final practice session has been etched in on Fri., Feb. 17 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Group qualifying is set for later in the day at 3:30 p.m. The preamble for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ “Clash” is set to take the green flag on Sat., Feb. 18 shortly after 4:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), while ARCARacing.com will stream live timing and scoring throughout the entire weekend festivities.

Gus Dean; GREE Join Win-Tron Racing For ARCA Season Finale

Gus Dean; GREE Join Win-Tron Racing For ARCA Season Finale

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina – (October 6, 2016) – Gus Dean and GREE, the world’s largest manufacturer of specialized Cooling & Heating Products officially announced today the Bluffton, South Carolina native has joined Win-Tron Racing for the ARCA Racing Series season finale next Friday night at Kansas Speedway.

Dean will drive the No. 33 GREE / Cab Installers Toyota Camry, the same marketing partnership he had for his Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway debut which resulted in his first career ARCA victory in just his second career start.

Dean’s Toyota will also be decked out in shades of pink to showcase their support for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

“I’m excited to join Win-Tron Racing,” said Dean. “This is a great opportunity for myself, GREE and Cab Installers to cap off the season on a high note while also allowing me to get some more experience on a mile and a half track.

“I’m appreciative to Kevin (Cywinski) and the entire Win-Tron Racing team for welcoming us for the ARCA season finale and allowing us to help spread the word about Breast Cancer Awareness.”

The 22-year-old heads to Kansas Speedway after his inaugural intermediate track debut last month at Kentucky Speedway. While running solidly in the top-10, a large piece of debris went through the radiator sending the driver and his Mason Mitchell Motorsports team behind the wall for repairs. He later returned to the race and finished 21st.

“I learned a lot at Kentucky,” added Dean. “I know Kentucky and Kansas will be different when it comes to passing and racing groves, but the experience is priceless. We have the goal of going to Kansas and competing for a top-five finish and being a good teammate.”

Kansas’s race marks the second race this season where Win-Tron Racing has fielded two cars. The Mooresville, North Carolina-based team also ran two cars in the season-opener at Daytona with newcomer Shane Lee and former ARCA winner Austin Wayne Self. Next week, Dean hopes to strengthen his relationship with Lee both on and off the track.

“I have a lot of respect for Shane,” said Dean. “He’s done an amazing job with the team the last couple of months and I hope we both have a good race and my first year of ARCA competition ends positively.”

Cywinski, a former driver and winning ARCA car owner is ecstatic about having Dean under their racing umbrella for Kansas.

“I’ve been keeping my eye on Gus all year and he’s done a real good job,” he said. “He’s had some ups and some downs, but he has stood tall through it all and that’s a key fundamental to our success at Win-Tron Racing. We think he’ll not only be fast at Kansas, but he’ll be an equally good teammate to Shane (Lee) and we can go there and close out the season with two top-five finishes.”

“GREE is excited to extend our ARCA partnership for Gus’s Kansas debut,” offered Tradewinds Climate Systems president Dave Pearson. “He’s been very fast the last couple of races, but has experienced some bad luck along the way. We’re confident that he’ll have a strong showing in his Win-Tron Racing.

“We all continue to be impressed with Gus’s driving capabilities as well his desire to stand up and fight through adversity. He has not only become a tremendous role model and spokesperson for GREE, but we know he’s a very talented driver too. We’re excited to get to Kansas and see the results first hand.”

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series spotter Tyler Green, who guided to Dean to his popular win at Talladega has also made the leap to Win-Tron Racing and will guide him in his Kansas Speedway debut.

Dean will carry the GREE on-board camera for the 100-lap event on Fri., Oct. 14. The Kansas ARCA 150 will be aired live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) beginning at 8:00 p.m. (Central).

Before Dean shifts his concentration to Kansas, he’ll compete in Saturday’s INEX Legend Car Series Asphalt World Championship at Waterford Speedway in Connecticut competing in the semi-pro division driving for 860 Motorsports. This summer, Dean had an impressive showing in the Summer Shootout at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway where Dean finished a close third in the overall summer championship standings, which also included a win and numerous top-five runs.

“I’m eager for the race on Saturday at Waterford,” said Dean. “I can’t thank the 860 Motorsports guys enough for giving me a call and asking me to come and run. Hopefully, we can have some pretty good practices and go out there and give nothing less than 110 percent for the race.”

Back Again GREE And Bosch Add Kentucky Speedway To Gus Dean’s ARCA Schedule

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina– (September 17, 2016) – Hungry for their second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards win of the season and continuing to be impressed with Bluffton, South Carolina native’s Gus Dean transition to the series, GREE, the world’s largest world’s largest manufacturer of specialized Cooling & Heating Products has added next Friday night’s Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway to his schedule.

Additionally, GREE has once again brought the support of Bosch joining Dean as he returns to Mason Mitchell Motorsports for the penultimate ARCA Racing Series race of the season aboard the No. 98 GREE / Bosch Chevrolet SS.

The combo debuted with the avid short track racer at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last month.

“I’m stoked to be back with Mason Mitchell Motorsports and to have the support of GREE and Bosch for Kentucky Speedway,” said Dean. “It’s because of Dave (Pearson) that I’m able to continue to live my dream of racing cars at tracks I’d never imagined I would compete at. Hopefully, the test will be a success and we can have a good showing under the Friday night lights.”

To prepare the South Carolinian for his debut in the Blue Grass state, the team synced with crew chief and three-time series winner Mason Mitchell will participate in the open-test at the 1.5-mile facility on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

“Mason (Mitchell, team owner) seems confident that we’re going to be exceptional at the test,” sounded Dean. “He says he has a lot of ideas and he is very confident about the car we are bringing and the chances we have for the race. The track is still relatively new with the repaved surface – but we’re hoping that we can find a strong comfort zone to have some good solid speed and then have an exceptional race. I can’t wait to get going.”

Bosch home appliances is part of BSH Home Appliances Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, based in Munich, Germany. As part of the largest manufacturer of home appliances in Europe, and one of the leading companies in the sector worldwide, Bosch has been selling high performance German-engineered appliances in the United States since 1991.

Known nationwide for raising the standards in quietness, efficiency and design for appliances, Bosch frequently receives top ratings in leading consumer publications and received awards from ENERGY STAR for eight consecutive years, from 2007-2014. With U.S. headquarters in Irvine, Calif., the company also operates manufacturing facilities in La Follette, Tenn. and in New Bern, N.C., housing state-of-the-art factories for dishwashers, ranges, ovens and cooktops.

Together, GREE and Bosch turn to Dean, the 21-year-old rising star hoping he can deliver his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory in just his sixth career start. In May, Dean scored his first career victory in just his second career start in a nail-biting finish.

And while Kentucky Speedway is no restrictor plate venue, Dean knows his Mason Mitchell Motorsports team is bringing him a car capable of producing a similar type result he had in April’s General Tire 200.

“Even though I was on the track last month at Pocono, it feels like an eternity,” added Dean. “We’ve had a great year and even though Pocono didn’t turn out like we liked, we still were able to overcome our hiccups and finish inside the top-15. Next Friday night, we want to get ourselves another win and see if that’s enough to sail us into Kansas to run in the season finale.”

“We’re delighted to have our longtime partner Bosch once again partner with us and Gus (Dean) at Kentucky Speedway next weekend,” offered Tradewinds Climate Systems president Dave Pearson. “We all continue to be impressed with Gus’s driving capabilities as well his desire to stand up and fight through adversity. He has not only become a tremendous role model and spokesperson for GREE, but we know as a very talented and gifted driver too. We’re excited to get to Kentucky and see the results first hand.”

2014 ARCA Racing Series champion Mason Mitchell will serve as crew chief for Dean on Sept. 23. Mitchell held the same role in the team’s triumph at Talladega in April. NASCAR XFINITY Series spotter Ford Martin, son of NASCAR veteran Gil Martin will guide Dean in his Kentucky Speedway debut.

Dean is expected to carry the GREE on-board camera for the 100-lap event on Fri., Sept 23. The Crosley Brands 150 will be aired live on FOX Sports 2 (FS2) beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Before Dean shifts his concentration to Kentucky, he’ll compete in Saturday night’s CARS Tour event at Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway, where Dean will pilot the No. 56 Baker Distributing / GREE Chevrolet in the BakerDist.com Honeywell 200 presented by 100.3 The Team in a car fielded by Dean Racing.

“Myrtle Beach is a big race for us because our partner BAKER Distributing is sponsoring the race,” added Dean. “So there’s pressure on me to perform, because I want them to realize how much their support means to not only me, but my team too. I know my crew chief Petey (Hinson) is bringing me a good car and we’ll see what we can do when the green flag waves.”
